To immerse or not to immerse?

So, my 5 year old daughter is starting 5k in August. In our school district, Lexington County District 1, there is a program called Partial Immersion in World Languages. Basically, a child starts the program in 5k and status in it throughout their primary, secondary and high school years. From what I understand, they take English and Social Studies in English, and math and science in the other language; either French, Spanish, or, in some schools, Chinese.

The program sounds great, and its something I think Makenna will do great in; however, I do have some concerns.

1. I don't know any foreign languages except Latin..yeah, the dead language. So, how am I supposed to help with homework and other school stuff, if I can't read and understand what she is doing??

2. Is learning math and science in another language going to cause her to miss some of the details, because of the effort it will require to translate first?

Makenna is very bright; however, I feel that she might be a bit behind in the skills she should have before starting 5K. What if being this challenged this early on just frustrates her and stresses her too soon? My goal is and always has been to instill a love of learning in my children.

Please give me your feedback on this. What would you do?
