In the Beginning...

So...my first blog. It's not the first thing I've ever written; far from it. I write all the time. I write and edit and re-write - but it's usually in my head. I want to write about everything; my past, my future, your past, your future (no, I don't have ESP...), what I watched on TV last night, what YOU watched on TV last night (and why), where I went after work yesterday, and so on and on and on. I'm nosy. I ask a lot of questions, and I give my opinion - whether a person wants it or not.

I'm going to start by introducing myself. Actually, I guess I didn't "start" by introducing myself, since there is a whole paragraph up there before this "introductory" paragraph....so I guess I'll just interject an introduction now, and you can read out of order, if you'd like.

My name is Jeania. No, that's not a typo. That's how you spell my name. It's pronounced like "Gina". Only not spelled the same. Kind of like John Coffey on The Green Mile...except different. When my mom tells people how she chose that name, and explains how to pronounce it, she always says, "it's Jean with an -ia on the end. I named her after my twin sister, Jean". So, since I was named after my mom's twin sister, I have spent my whole life being called Jean....with the -ia as an afterthought. I don't mind so much though - I loved my Aunt Jean. I'm a lot like her - though I don't look like her. We have similar personalities. She passed away when I was 18. Anyway, you'll read more about her in later blogs, I'm sure.

So, my name is Jeania. I live in Lexington, South Carolina. I am extremely Southern. I say weird things, and I have weird ideas about things. I have no mental filter - I think it, I say it. This leads to entertaining conversations with people, as I like to lead them into the belief that they are smarter than me, just so that I can get a reaction. But some things I say, I really did mean to say them that way, and people are still quite entertained by them. An example - people I work with call me "Spicy". Now, that's not funny, unless you know how I pronounce the word Spicy. I say it with a Southern accent. Let me teach you. Say the word slowly, and instead of elongating the "i" sound, make it the "ah" sound. Now let it roll slowly off your tongue, and you have my version of the word. A lot of people I work with are Northern...Yankees....not from around these parts...whatever. The first time we were talking about Spicy food, it resulted in a new nickname for me. I have no idea why we were talking about something spicy at work...it just happened. But I digress. Oh by the way - you'll need to get used to that. I digress on a regular basis. It's the way my brain works. Remember my introduction - buckle up, and let me know if you need a translator....

I live in South Carolina, as  I mentioned, but I was by no means raised in South Carolina. I was born in Mississippi, and have lived in California, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, and South Carolina. My step-dad was in the Navy, and we moved around a lot. We still moved around a lot even after he retired from the Navy. I guess you could say we got used to it. The number of times I've moved is mind-boggling to some people. Since I was 4 years old, I think I've lived in 35 different homes. Yeah. I know. And I went to 12 different schools by the time I was in the 9th grade. I'm really good at making new friends - but awful at keeping them.

Ok - I'm really going to introduce myself now. I'm 32, turning 33 on the 25th of January. I am a single mom, with three amazing kids. They really are. Amazing, that is. They are smart, articulate, adorable, and amaze me every day with all these gifts and more. Austin is 11, Ty is 6, and Makenna is 5. Here they are:

I work as a Customer Care and Compliance agent at DHL Global Forwarding. Basically, I handle customer service associated with the import and Customs Clearance for my customers. That's all I am at liberty to disclose. I love my job. I love my job. I love my job....yup.

Outside of work, I love to hang out with my friends, and by hang out, I mean go to their houses and laugh and eat and watch them smoke and laugh some more. Oh, and eat. Here's a recent picture of me with three of my besties, on a recent rare outing (meaning, we spent a night away from someone's house, and actually went out...)

I love to sing, laugh, read, say silly things, and spend time with my kiddos. I work full-time, 40 hours a week - but I spend the 2 days I have off with my family.

That's all the surface stuff for now!!
